International Dog Rescue Disaster! Please help.

Today, 19th November 2020, the Eurotunnel train company, Le Shuttle, has made the unilateral decision to stop the transportation of more than five dogs per person on their service through the Channel Tunnel . This ruling comes into force with immediate effect, and no further bookings will be taken.

This decision is devastating for the future of international dog rescue, and will end up costing hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. For, in some parts of continental Europe with an extensive homeless dog problem, dogs captured and put in the city pound, are killed by lethal injection after only fifteen days, if no one claims or rescues them.

Limiting the number of dogs to five, changes the economics of transport for rescuers, making it prohibitive to bring them to Britain, where many families are queuing up to adopt these otherwise unwanted animals and give them the loving forever home they deserve, after all they have suffered.

We are calling on every dog lover to take action NOW, to put pressure on Le Shuttle to reverse their draconian decision, which has appeared overnight with no prior warning.

The dogs we have already committed to save will no longer be able to travel across the English Channel from 20th November 2020. And this will be replicated, hundreds of times over, across the rescue world. This means that until something is done, no more freedom rides for all the innocent dogs who are waiting and hoping for help.

Covid 19 has been beyond challenging for animal rescue organisations. This decision today by Le Shuttle will be even more disastrous for international dog rescue.
