With all the technology talk going on everywhere, here are some networking tips everyone, even you introverts, can use to make huge strides in your face to face prospecting.

If there is free food, and cheap drinks, you can bet Realtors will be there. So you these tips to become a Pro at shaking hands and kissing babies!

It may come as a surprise to many in and outside of the industry, but some Realtors are shy. Not everyone can be a Social Butterfly!

Let's get out of our comfort zone with these strategies:

1. Do some pre-game research. If the mixer or event you are going to has a public RSVP list, like a Facebook invite list, scope some of those on the Attending or Maybe Attending lists out. By checking out some of those attending out virtually, you might find some common interest or see someone you know that is going. Use this pre-game opportunity to learn names and faces to boost your confidence going into the event.
2. Interact early. While you wait in line for a drink, or before you enter the venue strike up a conversation as early as possible. Use the strategy to get your feet wet before the event even gets under way.
3. Find a kindred spirit. To avoid the awkward lull before your first beverage has had time to kick your confidence up a notch, find a person in the crowd that looks just a shy as you.
4. Slow it down. Don't let your nerves get the best of you. Many people tend to talk way too fast when they get nervous and it can be very off-putting. Be sure to slow it down, take a deep breath.
5. Don't have analysis paralysis. On your way home don't get caught up in thoughts about how the event went. Too often introverts and extroverts alike worry about how they were perceived, or what was said when they went to the bathroom, or did they even like me, or... etc. Remember you went to have a good time, and meet new people.
6. Early bird gets the first shot. I have to admit, this is my favorite rule. I think being early or at least on time is a very undervalues opportunity. Use that time you arrive early to help setup or meet the organizers. Before all that chaos starts you can get some solid networking in and build a reputation for yourself that will be hard to tarnish - even after a few drinks.
7. Perfect practice makes perfect. You don't have to practice in the mirror to have a successful mixer, but you should understand that attending more will only get you more comfortable with the process. Get a few mixers under your belt and you'll be a Pro in no time.
8. Don't fake it 'til you make it. With the advent of the internet and social networks, people's BS Meters are off the charts. Just imagine how you'd feel if you set an appointment with someone, only to find out they weren't at all what they said they were. Put yourself out there for the betterment of your business, but don't change who you are.
9. Show those pearly whites. When you first introduce yourself smile. It is much easier to talk to someone that seems happy and excited to be at an event.
10. The Hangover Part You. Some people claim they need to get a few drinks in them before they can have a good time. But don't be that guy waking up with a Mike Tyson tattoo on your face after an event, in the name of easing your nerves.

Are there any major tips we missed? What are your secrets to a successful mixer?
