In this panel discussion, Freedom Fellows hailing from Bolivia, Cuba, and Nigeria highlight the similarities in how their countries are affected by authoritarianism. They interact with the audience at the Oslo Freedom Forum to explore how individuals in democratic societies can support pro-democracy movements.

HRF’s Freedom Fellowship is a one-year program that awards human rights advocates, social entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders from challenging political environments around the world with the unique opportunity to dramatically increase the impact of their work. During the program, the fellows work with a team of mentors to focus on the areas of activism, leadership, fundraising, technology, and communications.

With guidance from Ignite Talks, Freedom Fellows transform their personal experiences and activism work into a series of impactful, concise messages, which they present annually at the Oslo Freedom Forum.
