Your Daily Petal for Tuesday, May 5, 2020 (Original air date October 17, 2017) - Today, we discuss conditional compilation in C/C++. Many times, there are reasons when you may need to have different code run under different environmental conditions. For example, if you're running some code that needs to print out debugging information to the screen, then this code would best be compiled only during Debug mode and left out of the build when compiling for Release mode. To implement conditional compilation, use #ifdef/#elif/#endif blocks in your C/C++ code. Note, this strategy is not available in languages such as Java or C# which are not compiled down to level.
