Hydrapple Strategy: wait for arceus to use its opening move (either reflect or light screen). 3x nasty plot, attack cheer (skip it if there's an NPC arboliva), 1HKO with grass knot

Arceus Strategy : open with reflect and light screen. do them in reverse order if there is an NPC intimidator. 3x acid spray. wait for hydrapple to 1HKO.

Notes: both hydrapple and arceus need to use 5 turns before the player stat wipe, which leaves very little room for error. NPCs that can introduce animations, such as arboliva's seed sower and gardevoir's life dew, can waste enough clock time to cost hydrapple a turn. in the case of arboliva the 1.3x boost from the terrain can be enough to make up for skipping the attack cheer. however, in the case of gardevoir, you need to hope for a high damage roll for the grass knot to 1HKO. including grassy terrain in hydrapple's moveset would be ideal but it uses enough clock time to lose a turn, so you have to skip both the attack cheer and one of the nasty plots, and that can greatly reduce the likelihood of 1HKO.

Pros: excellent HP stat, good defense stat, fantastic special attack stat. resists earthquake, earth power. double resists wood hammer. no weaknesses. nasty plot buffs special attack 2 stages. grass knot has 120 base power, 100 accuracy, deals supereffective STAB damage. life orb boosts damage by 1.3x.

Cons: mediocre special defense stat, outsped by torterra
