“Actuators for Microrobotics using Microfabrication, Additive Manufacturing, and Shape Memory Alloys”
Prof. Camilo Velez Cuervo, University of California, Irvine

Dr. Camilo Velez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of California, Irvine. His research interests include micro/nano robotics, fabrication of magnetic devices at microscale, MEMS, and microfluidics. He conducted postdoctoral research at Carnegie Mellon University in Sarah Bergbreiter's Microrobotics Lab and at the Interdisciplinary Microsystems Group at University of Florida (UF). Camilo received his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in electrical and computer engineering at UF, a M.Eng. at Universidad de los Andes-Colombia, and his B.S. in Electronic Engineering at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana-Colombia. Dr. Velez was awarded an Engineering Award for Creativity at UF, honorable mention for excellence in research in his bachelor in Colombia and won two best poster awards. He currently serves in the board of Governors of Electron Devices Society at IEEE and as chair of Young Professionals committee in same society.
