A Motorola GP340Ex I recently obtained

I recently obtained this Motorola GP340Ex, I have had some preliminary investigations of it to know it will need reprogramming for the 70cm band for it to be any use to me, as it is 16 channel it should be capable of the 70cm simplex channels and I believe it should also be capable of repeater shift so will work with repeaters.

This radio was in need of a clean when I got it as it was clearly left in a dusty environment for quite some time, all I need to do is program it.

The Ex version is ATEX certified, this means it is designed to be used safely in areas with an explosive atmosphere, so like in mines and flour mills and such like, therefore the transmitter will most likely be limited to 1 watt, I suspect many of these radios are finding there way into the surplus market as organisations migrate to DMR (or MotoTRBO as Motorola brand it) systems.

All in all a future attraction where I program this radio and give it a new lease of life
