Описание к видео Do you stretch after you workout? Here’s why you should ⬇️⬇️

Ok, I just had to… 😛😆⬇️⬇️

But for realz, can we stop with the EXCUSES for not stretching after a workout?? 🤨

First of all, if you need help with what stretches you need to do, drop STRETCH below and I can send you a quick pdf of five effective stretches you should be doing after workouts.

But specifically, let’s say you are working on LEG strengthening exercises, or maybe you like to run a few miles. If you AREN’T stretching afterward, there is a good chance you will eventually have muscle stiffness…

And this leads to JOINT STIFFNESS and even pain.

Why?? ⬇️⬇️

Because your muscles that you use MOST OFTEN in exercise (OR even throughout the day- think of sitting- your chest, hip flexors, and hamstrings will tighten, for instance, because you are constantly in a bent forward position).

And over time, this stiffness restricts your RANGE OF MOTION, specifically how well your joint moves in space throughout its range. For instance, your shoulder should be able to reach fully overhead or up your back (fingertips to shoulder blade or higher) but many people cannot do this- because they have lost range of motion in their lats and rotator cuff muscles. This causes restrictions in the shoulder joint, and even other joints (your scapulae, or shoulder blades) and even in your upper spine.

… and this develops over time into frozen shoulder, or rotator cuff syndrome with pain. Especially when we lift heavier weights and don’t have great mobility in the joint. 😩😳

➡️ Soooo, long story short- STRETCH. Even 10 minutes after a workout is so helpful. And be sure to stretch the specific muscles you have worked.

I also recommend mobility exercises prior to a workout, for instance high knees and butt kicks before leg strengthening, and arm circles and hugs before doing arms.

➡️ As we get older, we are at higher risk for developing loss of motion in our joints (ie, frozen shoulder affects more women in perimenopause), This is also due to lack of movement and genetics.
