However, there was a time when the handsome actor was linked to actress, Priyanka Chopra, which came as a big disappointment to his fans. During the making of Don 2 in 2011, rumour mills had it that Shah Rukh and Priyanka were head over heels in love with one another. But, once in an old interview, Shah Rukh was asked about the rumours of his affair with Priyanka, and the actor didn’t let the question go without answering it. Like a true gentleman, Shah Rukh talked about it and said Priyanka is one of the closest people in his life. In his words:

“To me, what is most disturbing is the fact that a lady who's worked with me has been questioned, and somewhere down the line, she's not being shown the kind of respect I show her or all the women. I think it's a little disrespectful. I'm extremely sorry about that. Sorry means... it's not directly because of anything I've done but because she's my friend. She's one of the closest friends I have, very close to my heart, and always will be."
