SUMMARY

Pug ConDoin is a fantasy character with a long and eventful story. He appears in no less than 24 books! For this video, I’m going to focus on his founding journey in the original three books in The Riftwar Saga: The Magician, Silverthorn, and Darkness at Sethanon written by Raymond E Feist.

His journey from lowly orphan to powerful sorcerer has inspired my fantasy writing since I was a young teenager just learning to write fantasy. I've learnt many things from Pug:

1: If your archetype or narrative arc is obvious, it means you’re being unoriginal or you’re not telling the story well enough.

2: Don’t be gratuitous with your power characters.

3: Your power character shouldn’t live in isolation.
