Opening of The Blackpool Tower Dungeon

Way back on 25 August 2011 we went along to the official opening of the Blackpool Tower Dungeon. The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is a brand new attraction, opened by leisure operator Merlin on the site of the former The Blackpool Tower Aquarium which closed in November 2010 after many years. The aquarium animals all went to the new SEA LIFE centre on the promenade before the opening of Blackpool Dungeon.

The Blackpool Dungeon is a Lancashire version of the London Dungeon. For the opening of the Tower Dungeon, the motley crew of characters arrive at Bank Hey Street in Blackpool town centre, banging their drums and shouting, to quickly draw a crowd.

When you visit the attraction, you see the actors perform vignettes telling tales of smugglers, Pendle witches, the plague, and Vikings. Each has their own scenes of dastardly deeds, history and torture!

After a proclamation for the opening of the Blackpool Dungeon, the invited guests all enter the doors to be spooked and entertained in equal measure. Finally ending with the Blackpool Tower Dungeon drop ride.... Dare you enter?
