HELP! I KEEP SINNING! HOW TO FESS UP WHEN YOU MESS UP!

What do you do when you keep committing the same sin again and again? That’s our topic today on the BEAT.

Hey everyone my name is Allen Parr thank you so much for tuning into the BEAT. Today we want to talk about what to do when you find yourself struggling with the same sin again and again and you may not be now but I can assure you that at some point you will have something that no matter how hard you try you can’t seem to stop going. [I wish someone would’ve told me these things when I was a younger Christian because I did it all wrong.] So today I want to share with you 5 DOs and 5 DON’Ts.

DOs
1. Confess your sin – 1 Jn. 1:9 – Even if you have to confess the same sin 10 times every day. Confess it. The reason why we do is because it reestablishes fellowship with God.

2. Accept God’s Free Gift of Grace – Rom. 5:20

3. Try to Identify the Root Cause of Why – Many people deal with the fruit and not the root and never ask the question, “why am I struggling with this sin?” And so because they never ask the question they seldom get the answer.

4. Accountability – Proverbs 18:1; 14:12; 11:14; James 5 – Let’s face it. If you would’ve been able to conquer this sin on your own by now you would’ve done it. The enemy wants you to live in secrecy where you feel so ashamed of what you’re doing that you can’t share it with anyone.

5. Reestablish Intimate fellowship with God – Ps. 119:11 – When you do your chances of committing sin are less. Remember that Dusty Bibles lead to Dirty Lives.

DON’Ts
1. Don’t think you have lost your salvation – Listen, the very fact that you are experiencing a strong sense of remorse over your sin is ongoing proof that the Holy Spirit is alive and well doing His job inside of you.

2. Don’t live in condemnation – Rom. 8:1
a. Don’t start beating yourself up living a depressed life thinking that the more depressed you make yourself the more impressed God is with your spirituality. God never requires us to get depressed over our sin.
b. Sometimes we think we need to create some sort of buffer time between when we sin and when we get back with God because if we try to get back with God too quickly it means we aren’t taking our sin seriously.
c. When we do this leads us to create distance between ourselves and God to where we don’t feel worthy to pray, read our bible, worship or share our faith with others making us ineffective.

3. Don’t try to do something good to make up for your sin – Isa. 64:6 – It doesn’t work like that.

4. Don’t make promises to God you can't keep

5. Don’t Rationalize it – Prov. 28:13 – Don’t make excuses for your sin.

If you know someone struggling with sin in their life (just about all of us), please pass this video along to them. And remember, Dusty Bibles lead to Dirty Lives.
