Colonoscopic Polypectomy at SQUARE HOSPITAL LTD Dhaka Bangladesh

A 65 year's old lady presented at SQUARE HOSPITAL LTD Dhaka Bangladesh with Rectal bleeding. during colonoscopy we found a proliferative growth and large number of polyps of variable sizes. Her Polypectomy was done successfully without any complications.

Procedure: COLONOSCOPIC POLYPECTOMY

Indication: P/R bleeding

Medication: Under sedation

FINDINGS:

SEEN UP TO TERMINAL ILEUM: Perianal region to terminal ileum examined. Perianal region is normal; there is no skin tag, fistulous opening or rectal mucosal prolapse present. Haemorrhoid columns are merge with anal mucosa, no blood present. Anal verge is smooth, no fissure present. A large ulcero proliferative growth is seen at the rectum starting from 5cm up to 10cm from the anal verge. Large number of polyps of variable sizes and shapes are seen throughout the colon and caecum. Most of the larger polyps are removed by diathermy snare and Hot biopsy forceps. The terminal ileum is normal.

BIOPSY: Taken from-

A. Resected colonic polyps for histopathology.

B. Rectal growth for histopathology.

COMMENTS: Findings are highly suggestive of Ca. Rectum with Colonic Polyps.

THERAPEUTIC INTERVENTION: Colonoscopic polypectomy done.

ADVICE: Follow up Colonoscopy after surgery.
