DEI Install Essentials brand, 415M Door Lock Relays

These era' of Grand Cherokees use what is called a '5-wire Door lock' system (aka the door-lock motor legs rest at ground when not being used, and switches one leg of the door lock motor over to + to LOCK; and does the opposite to unlock (makes the other leg of the door lock motor a +)... So it works by reversing the polarity so to speak between the lock and unlock functions... The door lock motors two wires will both rest at ground when not being used (as long as the door switches are plugged in)

These 1996, 1997, & 1998 Grand Cherokees use Computer controlled LOCK & UNLOCK signals sent via the DATA-BUS wires (digital signal via the Body Control Module) so it isn't possible to simply ground a wire so to speak to lock/unlock the doors like a lot of other vehicles are setup, like the 1997-2001 Cherokees are... Those type ones are MUCH easier to do since those are ground triggered from the factory... These Grand Cherokees aren't thst simple, and instead require the use of aftermarket door lock relays to be wired in instead (inside the actual door its self, at the actual door lock switch wiring, NOT inside the Jeep in a kick-panel or something unfortunately)

For this,
You'll need Two (2) DEI brand 451M door lock relays...

One 451M relay harness for the drivers side door by its self (since from the factory it is wired up separately from the rest of the door locks wiring, to make the optional 'drivers-priority-door lock' function possible from the factory as a programable option, where the first click of the unlock button only unlocks the drivers side door, then the second click of the unlock button unlocks the rest of the door locks (via the passenger side door lock wiring...) and a second 451M relay harness for the passenger side door (which works the rest of the door locks in the Jeep)...
