Best (and easiest) places to find FREE or CHEAP furniture.

1 | Facebook Marketplace - This is my go to place for furniture. I am constantly scrolling through the furniture section looking for new and inexpensive pieces. Here are my tips for buying on Facebook Marketplace.
Check the seller's profile: Look for a reputable seller with positive reviews and a history of successful transactions.
Communicate with the seller: If the piece of furniture is FREE, don't ask any questions. I would try to stand out by stating something like "Is this still available? I could pickup ASAP!" Sellers listing free items will get a lot of messages, so standing out by saying that you can pick it up as soon as possible can help them select you. You could even offer $5-10 for it if you really want it!
Negotiate the price: If the price is a little high for you, you can negotiate with the seller. However, I would start out by saying what you like about the item and if they would be willing to come down in price at all. I will sometimes tell the seller that if they choose to come down in the price, reach out because I will definitely come pick it up today if they would take $XX.

#2 | Online Auctions - This one takes a little more patience but I LOVE online auctions. They provide a safe pickup place, time, and set price. Auctions can stay open for weeks though so if you are in a hurry for a piece, this might not be the best place but you can find amazing pieces of furniture for VERY cheap. I have gotten $20 Bassett 9 drawer dressers from online auctions on multiple occasions.

CTBids (https://ctbids.com) - This is my favorite one because the filter option is great. However, the number of auctions is usually pretty limited.
Hibid (https://hibid.com) - This one has more auctions nationally but the site itself is a little harder to navigate.

#3 | FREEBIE App - I love this app but it can be a little overwhelming with the amount of notifications you receive. The app pulls in any "free" items listed in your area that you setup. That means you receive notifications for items other than furniture, and you will be amazed by the amount of free things people post throughout the day. To get the most out of this app, you have to have your notifications turned on so that you don't miss out as people claim these items within minutes of them being posted.
