The K. J. Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies (Somaiya Vidyavihar University) commemorated Constitution Day with an inspiring and dignified Oath Ceremony held on 26th November 2025. The ceremony was thoughtfully conducted by Dr. Arihant Kumar Jain, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Studies in Jainism, reflecting the institute’s commitment to fostering constitutional awareness, civic responsibility, and national values among students.
Proceedings of the Ceremony:
The event began with Dr. Arihant Kumar Jain welcoming all the students, faculty members, and staff present. In his opening address, Dr. Jain elaborated on the significance of Constitution Day, observed every year on 26th November to mark the historic adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949. He reminded the gathering that the Constitution of India is not only a legal framework but a living document that ensures justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity to every citizen.
Dr. Jain highlighted that commemorating Constitution Day is a meaningful way to renew our understanding of constitutional values and our responsibilities as citizens. He encouraged the students to reflect on the guiding principles of the Constitution and to carry forward these ideals in their personal, academic, and social lives. The introduction set a thoughtful tone for the ceremony, reminding everyone that constitutional literacy is essential for strengthening the spirit of democracy.
Following the introduction, the Recital of the Preamble formed the core of the ceremony. All students were provided with printed copies of the Preamble in both Hindi and English. Ensuring wide participation, Dr. Jain first read the Preamble aloud in Hindi, with the students repeating after him with sincerity and enthusiasm. This was followed by the English recital, where the Preamble’s ideals were echoed clearly and confidently by the entire gathering.
With active participation and a strong sense of purpose, the Oath Ceremony successfully instilled constitutional awareness and patriotic spirit among the students. The event served as a meaningful reminder of the ideals that shape India’s democracy and the responsibility of every individual to preserve them.
