In December 2003, Yusuke Awazu, stage composer for the contemporary dance group "Study of live works 発条ト" and choreographer/dancer Maki Morishita took the lead in starting activities under the band name "fruity". In August 2007, the band changed its name to "locolo code."

The band's characteristic songs are characterized by fast, dizzying, kaleidoscopic chord changes. The live performance is filled with a unique atmosphere created by Maki Morishita's dancing and the playback of the backtrack using analog open reels.
