Acrylic Pouring Using a Catalyst Wedge | Chaos Style Dutch Pour

Описание к видео Acrylic Pouring Using a Catalyst Wedge | Chaos Style Dutch Pour

Time to expand my tool kit, introducing the catalyst wedge! Scary and exhilarating all at the same time, but seriously look at that movement and swirl!!!! Such a nice addition if you're into any type of abstract acrylic painting, fluid art or blow dryer acrylic pouring.

I'm starting off with a chaos style Dutch pour using the paints I had left over from my two previous pours. (I promise I will mix up the colors in my next video!)

Please check out Color Me Zaw on Instagram @colormezaw to see how he uses the catalyst wedge in his Dutch pours for some additional inspiration - trust me it will be worth it. He also has a YouTube channel with a few videos so that you can see his technique a little more closely, here is the link!    / @colormezaw1959

Some key takeaways:
1) When using a catalyst wedge you may want to consider painting the entire canvas before laying down your paint as you could scrap the canvas when pulling the wedge through the paint and exposing the bare canvas underneath
2) I prefer the feel of the catalyst wedge over the hard plastic comb or cake decorating tools. The wedge has a nice grip, its silicone and very flexible when used with acrylic paint.
3) Make sure you have enough paint down but not so much that it could pool around the catalyst wedge, because once you've dragged it through the paint, you can't tilt it off or remove as it will destroy your composition.

As always, my paints are all Amsterdam Acrylics Standard Series however I am experimenting with some inexpensive pouring medium (no water added) and I mixed it to the right consistency which for this style of acrylic pouring is the same as the typical Dutch pour - very thin, running off the stick and disappearing right away back into the paint.
