Located in the lush highlands of Janda Baik, Malaysia, The Rainforest Residence is a stunning architectural retreat designed by Choo Gim Wah Architect. Built as a private sanctuary for an artist family, the house embraces off-form concrete to create a monolithic structure that is both grounded and permeable. The design seamlessly connects with the surrounding rainforest through open-air transitions, full-height glazing, and passive cooling strategies that celebrate tropical living.

Inside, the residence transforms into a living gallery—where art, architecture, and nature coexist. From the Pantheon-inspired oculus to the windowless facade that showcases large-format artworks, every element has been thoughtfully crafted to serve both function and expression. Over time, the concrete surfaces begin to merge with moss and foliage, allowing the home to slowly blend into its environment, embodying a poetic relationship between permanence and nature.
