Carl Philip Stamitz (Karel Stamic, 8 May 1745 – 9 November 1801) was a German composer of partial Czech ancestry. He was the most prominent representative of the second generation of the Mannheim School but he was more successful as a virtuoso on the viola d'amore than as a composer, though his enormous catalog of symphonies, symphonies concertantes, and concertos was impressive enough to provoke envy in Mozart.

Carl Stamitz viola Concerto in D major is one of the best known (or notorious, for someone) works among viola students and viola players.
