Caterham Seven 420R POV

Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. Throughout my 4 years of filming for YouTube I have gathered several hours of footage from several cars, so I have a very good archive in which to pick out some footage.

Here is some POV with a Caterham 420R that I was lucky to spend some time with back in 2018. At the time of filming I did intend to make a video with this footage, but to be honest, when I watched it back it didn't look as exciting as actually being in the hot seat doing the driving, and the intensity doesn't really come through on camera.

Therefore, the footage was archived, with no plans for it ever to see the light of day. However, given the current circumstances, the fact I now have no cars to review, and some of you have enjoyed my recent POV content, I thought I'd blow the dust off.

There's no reviewing, no metaphors, no music, it's all about the drive. Before some of you keyboard warriors warm up your fingers and moan about the fact I'm short-shifting, this was mainly to make it easier to keep it below the speed limit as you can imagine it's not very difficult to exceed the speed limit.

The other reason is that the 420R is simply ferocious in its power delivery, so it's important to treat the car with respect and not to drive it in a ham-fisted manner, especially on the public road.

Speaking of the power, the 420R is powered by 2.0 litre Ford Duratec petrol engine, much like the 620R, only the 420 doesn't have the support of a supercharger. Even without the supercharger it's able to offer 210hp along with 203Nm of torque. This may not sound like a great deal, but when you bear in mind that's contained in a car that's half the weight of an MX-5, you'll soon realise that's as potent as a shot tequila.

The power is fed to the rear wheels via 5-speed manual and a limited slip differential. 60mph is dealt with in under 4 seconds, and where it's legal, you'll hit a top speed of 136mph.
