Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about how to play Circe Chess.
The rules of this game are similar to normal chess except for a few modifications.
Whenever a piece is captured, it is returned to its original position and can be used in the game again and this is known as a ‘rebirth’.
If a pawn is captured, it is placed in the same column it was captured in, on the second row, which is the initial position of pawns.
If a pawn is promoted then the players must treat it as that promoted piece and not as a pawn.
If Rooks, Knights and Bishops are captured, they are placed back in their original position, however, the colour of the original space should be the same as the colour of the space on which they were captured.
If the original space of the same colour already has a game piece either friendly or the opponent’s then the captured piece is eliminated from the game and is not used again.
If the players capture through En Passant, then their pawn would come directly in front of the opponent’s reborn pawn and that would result in both the pawns not being able to move.
Circe Chess is usually played with the progressive chess variant.
The first player who manages to checkmate the opponent’s King wins.
