Описание к видео How to make an adult elastic bust shirred dress - free pattern DIY sewing tutorial by Linda Forager

Learn how to sew an elasticated bust cotton dress with our shirred dress tutorial. This video will show you how you can draft your own dress pattern in any size using just a few easy measurements, then it will show you step by step instructions on how to sew it together with lots of tips along the way for a better finish. Although I have made this dress as an adult woman's dress size, the pattern can work equally well for toddlers and children. Because of the elastic bodice and flared skirt style this free dress pattern would also be perfect for maternity wear.

This video will also show you how to do shirring including answering common shirring troubleshooting questions such as how to use elastic thread, why top loading bobbin sewing machines often have more problems setting up the shirring to gather well and how to avoid them, what settings to put your sewing machine on to do shirring and what to do if the fabric isn't gathering up as you would expect it to.

Approximate time to make this dress 3+ hours.

Sewing Machine feet used in this video are a standard zigzag foot, quarter inch quilting foot, overcast foot and a stitch guide foot.

To make this dress, you will need approximately 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 metres of fabric (quantity will depend on your size, the fabric width and pattern and how much you are looking to pattern match your pieces).
