But for teens in the queer community, this is not the reality they face.

According to the Minus18 annual impact report, two in three LGBTQIA+ youths in Australia today still experience abuse for being who they are.

This is why Minus18 has teamed up with Hilton and Aussie star Ruby Rose to announce the inaugural Rainbow Formal gala event in Sydney this week.

Rose is one of the most recognisable stars on the planet - with several projects on TV and the big screen under her belt.

But the Rainbow Formal gala event is something she holds close to her heart.
