Swimming in Charco El Hippie | Exploring the Natural Pools of Puerto Rico

Описание к видео Swimming in Charco El Hippie | Exploring the Natural Pools of Puerto Rico

Charco el Hippie is a fresh water natural pool and waterfall in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Located in the south end of El Yunque rainforest, it is not access through the El Yunque rainforest park entrance.

Enter from Naguabo on Route 191 and follow the GPS navigation along the one lane road. There is a free lower level parking area (dirt lot along the road) for cars, and SUV/Jeep can drive a bit further to the end of the road for additional parking. On busy weekends or holidays, one of the neighbors offers additional PAID parking on their property.

It is a short, easy trail from the road down to the natural pools. Wear sturdy water shoes for the trail and the rocks get quite slippery.

The water is fed from the Rio Blanco river and there is a mild current from the waterfall. Most of the water is very calm with shallow areas at the entrance of the natural pool. There are deeper sections in the water for cliff jumping and rope swings. The water is about 68 degrees F (20 C) year round.

There are no facilities on site. Bring water, snack, sunblock, towels, and remember to take all of your trash with you when you leave.

Be cautious visiting after heavy rains as the road can wash out and the current can get very strong.
