Kura-Araxes and Maykop Genetics

Описание к видео Kura-Araxes and Maykop Genetics

In this video I take a look at the genetics of the Kura-Araxes, Maykop, and Meshoko cultures. Recently, Wang et. al, released a study in Nature Communications titled "Ancient human genome-wide data from a 3000-year interval in the Caucasus corresponds with eco-geographic regions", which took a look at the genetic makeup of the populations of the pre-historic Caucasus, specifically those from the Kura-Araxes and Maykop cultures. Using this study, I prove that these pre-historic populations clustered closest to contemporary Iranians and Armenians and not Nordics. Thus, the populations of the Kura-Araxes and Maykop cultures were Near Eastern peoples, with ancestry derived from Caucasus Hunter Gatherer rich populations.
