Commanding General Maharajkumar Bahadur Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana honored by Italian Army in Rome. He was honored with 'Order of the Crown of Italy' by the Italy Government.

About him:

Born in 1892, he was the first son of hereditary Rana dynasty Prime Minister 'Juddha Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana' from his
first wife Padma Kumari.

Hon Colonel British Army 17/3/1942. Rcvd: the Orders of the Star of Nepal 1st class, Om-Ram-Patta (1948), the Gurkha Right Hand 1st class (2nd class 1934), and the Three Divine Powers 2nd class (1939), GC of the Order of the Crown of Italy (1934), and GO of the Order of the Legion of Honour of #France (1939), #British War (1918), George V Silver Jubilee (1935), 39/45 and #Burma Stars, British Defence and War (MID clasp) (1945) medals.

He died at the Bahadur Bhawan (building of #Kathmandu Metropolitan city office) on 19th May 1977, having had issue, three sons and five daughters:

**His eldest son Nara Shamsher ( Vice-Chairman National Olympic Committee 1962-1964) is dubbed as the 'Father of Sports' in Nepal.
