Ludwig 22/13/16" Classic Maple Drum Set - 1968 Sky Blue Pearl!!

Описание к видео Ludwig 22/13/16" Classic Maple Drum Set - 1968 Sky Blue Pearl!!

Here is a set of 1968 Ludwig Classic Maple drums, 14x22/9x13/16x16" with maple/poplar/maple shells in a classy Sky Blue Pearl Finish! This is a unique set of drums - the toms are factory ordered with mufflers on both the batter and resonant side, which is not the norm for vintage Ludwig. Also out of the ordinary, the 14x22" bass drum is factory equipped with double spurs! With clear interiors and super clean hardware, this is a great example of a well-kept special order vintage Ludwig kit. There is some wear on the bass drum hoops that can easily be repainted, and there is a scratch near the badge of the 16x16" floor tom that can be seen in the last picture. Those minor cosmetic points aside, these are in fantastic shape! Steve’s notes: The maple/poplar/maple 3 ply shell was fairly short lived since Ludwig then migrated to the all maple 6 ply with 45 edges. All of this was a logical progression in shell design that matched the trend in music. As rock flourished, the switch from 3 ply mahogany to 3 ply maple took place, which added projection to the shell. Then the 6 ply with 45 edges took it to the next level for projection and wider tuning range. These 3 ply maple with the rounded edges are the best of both worlds given that the maple is brighter and projects more than the earlier mahogany, but the rounder edges give it the same warmth. This shell configuration is a favorite of mine, and this kit is extra cool since a) the sky blue pearl is a cool finish and is the same finish and sizes as Charlie Watts’s Ludwig kit from his very early Stones days, b) the set is in great shape and sounds superb, and c) it is extra cool with the special factory order for double tone controls and double spurs.
