Here's a trailer for a documentary about the logging of the old-growth forests of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, for a documentary that will air in Dutch and English for millions of viewers on public TV (VPRO Tegenlicht) in Europe. The documentary will centre around the story of Big Lonely Doug, Canada's 2nd largest Douglas-fir tree which Ken Wu, the Ancient Forest Alliance's former executive director (and now the Endangered Ecosystems Alliance's executive director), nicknamed when he first measured the tree with his colleague TJ Watt in early 2014. With 79% of Vancouver Island's original ancient forests already logged, the BC NDP government must quickly enact science-based legislation to protect the remaining 21%, while protecting ancient forests across BC and ensuring a sustainable, second-growth forest industry.
