Why bathrooms are so hard to find in the U.S.

Ever been caught outside without a place to pee? You’re not alone – the U.S. has a severe shortage of public bathrooms. It’s tied with Botswana, Georgia and a couple other countries for having just eight public bathrooms per 100,000 people! This means many Americans turn to private businesses like Starbucks when they’ve “gotta go.” But WHY does America have such a severe shortage of public toilets? Yara went on a bathroom-hunting journey throughout New York, one of the most bathroom-deficient cities, to find out.
