➡In the original manuscript of the Book of Mormon, the handwriting of John Whitmer shows up in 1st Nephi, suggesting that Joseph translated the Small Plates while living in the Whitmer home in June 1829 at the end of the translation effort. The Joseph Smith Papers cites the handwriting as belonging to John Whitmer, Oliver Cowdery, and another unidentified person:
