In the heart of Seoul lies a place that has been admired since 1395: Gyeongbokgung Palace. During its six-century history, it hosted foreign dignitaries and was a center for the development of science, literature, architecture, art and astronomy. Within the walls of the historic building, the House of Gucci presented its Cruise 2024 collection, holding the first fashion show in the history of the palace on its territory.
With Mount Bugaksan as the backdrop on one side and the Seoul city skyline on the other, a contrast was created between past and present, echoing the way the House of Gucci design team interpreted the relationship between time and tradition reflected in the streets of Seoul. Created by the Gucci Studio, a community of designers and craftsmen from around the world, the collection brought together symbols of different dress codes and cultures in a historic room.
Sophisticated tweed jackets were paired with matching bike shorts, illustrations by local artist Ram Khan adorned sportswear and eveningwear, and details inspired by historical local clothing highlighted contemporary silhouettes with a Seoul-inspired twist. What stood out was the dress worn over a neoprene base layer, referencing the wetsuits worn by windsurfers and jetskiers on the Han River. A variation of the Horsebit bag was introduced with a narrower Horsebit Chain silhouette and an asymmetrical flap shape, as well as a leather model with embossed emblem. There are new Ace sneakers with a more rounded shape, as well as dive boots and stompers. All looks were complemented with accessories - bags, belts, jewelry. Moreover, in several images the belts were on the chest, which looked completely new.
