How To Make a PREMASTER (The CORRECT Way!)

Описание к видео How To Make a PREMASTER (The CORRECT Way!)

In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a premaster and properly prepare your mix for mastering. I will also show you what export settings to use and so on. When your song is finished, it's time to master your track. Before you master a song, it's considered a premaster. In order to get the best possible master, a premaster needs to be correctly mixed and prepared. There are several mistakes I see people making when exporting a premaster. This can degrade the final master, or even make the track unfit for mastering altogether, so in this video, I will show you how to prepare a song for mastering the proper way.
It's very important that everything in your mix is tonally balanced, and that there's no clipping going on. The mastering process will often change the perceived levels in your mix, and there are a few tricks you can use to be ready for that.
You must try to get your mix to sound as good as possible without any mastering effects at all. A mix that sounds great without mastering will usually sound great when mastered also. Never aim to "fix problems in a mix during mastering. Any problems in your mix should be fixed in the mix and not during mastering. In this tutorial I'm showing how to make a premaster in FL Studio, but the same principles apply to other daws, like Ableton, Logic pro, Cubase and so on.
Most people will export their premaster first, and then master it in another session, but you can also do the mastering directly on the master in the project itself.
It can also be a good idea to send the finished mix to an engineer to have it mastered, even if you know how to master it yourself. Many people believe it can be wise to have someone else master it, someone who can listen to it with fresh ears. Someone who hasn't been listening to it for countless hours already.
