Lesson Notes:

The primary purpose of arpeggios is to outline the chord tones, which gives clarity and direction to your improvisation. This is especially true if you start your arpeggios from the Root or the 3rd. But it is not uncommon to play an arpeggio from any scale degree. It is all up to your personal preferences. My experience is that once you go wild in your improvisation, everything can happen. Everything will happen! So you need to master arpeggios and scale connections from every scale degree.

Level 1 - Ascending Arpeggios + Descending Scales.
Do you remember Barry Harris' half step rule we talked about on Day 8? The same thing is happening here. When you see an arrow in the music sheet, stop for a second and ask yourself:

Is this a chord tone? (1, 3, 5, b7) - If yes, add an extra half step in between 1 and b7
Is this a tension note? (2, 4, 6) - If yes, no extra step is needed between 1 and b7

Or, you may want to think in terms of scales/modes:
Whenever you see an arrow in the music sheet, think:

Is this a chord tone? (1, 3, 5, b7) - If yes, play a Dominant Bebop scale.
Is this a tension note? (2, 4, 6) - If yes, play a Mixolydian Scale.

Level 2 - Play all the arpeggios from every scale degree and keep a steady tempo. I included 7 different left-hand grooves from easy to difficult that you play around with while practicing your right-hand lines.

Level 3 - Choose the most challenging left-hand pattern from "Level 2" and play through all the arpeggio+scale variations with that one challenging pattern.
