After leaving Kaiapoi we stayed at the Weedons Christchurch NZMCA Park for a couple of nights as Shelly was waiting for her fishing license to arrive in the post.

We then headed off and stayed at the Ashburton NZMCA park for a couple of nights enjoying a walk around the town and a purchase or two at the Saturday morning Farmers market.

After leaving Ashburton we stayed at a freedom camp (or boondock for our overseas watchers) for the night. Although the road was busy during the day, it was quiet at night, with no unwanted visitors during the night, we both had restful sleep.
Waking up refreshed the next morning, we headed off for a look around the town of Geraldine and meandered around a beautifully planted garden down by the stream in town, which was full of colourful Rhododendrons and azaleas all planted and maintained by volunteers.
