In this video, Rep. Johnson (now Mayor of Dallas) tells the panel of the mental hardship of Black Texans seeing a monument honoring those who fought for slavery. Rep. Dustin Burrows clearly and unequivocally tells Rep. Johnson and the audience that there are more important things to take up and that he opposes the removal of Confederate Monuments. This is at odds with what he has previously told his fellow African American colleagues in the Texas House of Representatives as well as many other House Democrats.
