How to Reach Kedarnath from Gangotri via Uttarkashi, Srinagar, and Sonprayag

Kedarnath and Gangotri are two of the most popular Char Dham pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. Both temples are located in the high Himalayas and can only be reached by trekking or by helicopter.

In this video, I will show you how to reach Kedarnath from Gangotri via Uttarkashi, Srinagar, and Sonprayag. This is a popular route for pilgrims who want to visit both temples on the same trip.

The total distance from Gangotri to Kedarnath is approximately 322 kilometers. The first part of the journey is by road from Gangotri to Uttarkashi. Uttarkashi is a major town in Uttarakhand and is well-connected to other parts of the state by road and bus.

From Uttarkashi, you can travel to Srinagar and Sonprayag by bus or taxi. The journey takes about 2-3 hours to each place.

Sonprayag is the last motorable road to Kedarnath. From Sonprayag, you can either trek to Kedarnath or take a helicopter.

If you choose to trek, the distance from Sonprayag to Kedarnath is 18 kilometers. The trek takes about 6-8 hours to complete. The trek is moderate to difficult, so it is important to be physically fit before attempting it.

If you choose to take a helicopter, the flight from Sonprayag to Kedarnath takes about 10 minutes. Helicopter tickets can be purchased online or at the Sonprayag helipad.

Travel from Gangotri to Uttarkashi by bus or taxi. The journey takes about 2-3 hours.

Travel from Srinagar to Sonprayag by bus or taxi. The journey takes about 1-2 hours.
From Sonprayag, you can either trek to Kedarnath or take a helicopter.

Wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
Carry plenty of water and snacks.

Be aware of your surroundings and watch out for altitude sickness.
