How to Turn a Video into a GIF - Step by Step

Go to Veed.io and select Upload Your Video, then Upload a File. Select your video and hit Open. Your file will then appear in the video timeline.

To cut and trim your video, go down to the video timeline, hover your cursor over the end of the clip. Then click and drag to remove as much footage as you need.

To change the video shape, select the video canvas, go to the left hand side and find the drop down menu under Size. In the menu, you can select Square and the shape of the canvas will automatically change.

To fill the frame with your video, go to Transformations on the left and select Fill the Frame.

You can add text to your GIF by going over to Text in the left hand toolbar. Then select a preset from the menu to add a text box to the canvas.

You can then change the font, the size and the colour of your text in the menu on the left hand side. You can also move the text box by clicking and dragging it around the canvas.

Adjust the timing for when the text appear on screen, by clicking and dragging the text box in the timeline, just like we did with the video clip.

You can also add extra effects like emojis and progress bars by going to Elements on the left hand side.

To export your GIF, go to Export on the top right hand side, then Export Video. After it’s rendered, go over to the right and change the download setting from Download Video to Download GIF. You can then select that option to download the GIF to your computer.
