If you currently live in public housing or have a Housing Choice Voucher (formerly a Section 8 housing voucher), and have a complaint about your landlord or your housing unit, you should contact your Public Housing Authority (PHA) to help resolve your complaint.

If you have contacted your PHA and it has been unable to resolve your concerns or if you have a complaint about your PHA, contact the Public and Indian Housing (PIH).

Tenants may request a hearing in accordance with Housing Commission Grievance Policy. All grievances will be processed and resolved pursuant to the Grievance Policy in effect at the time the grievance arises.

Complainant: any resident whose grievance is presented to the Housing Commission management office.

Elements of Due Process: an eviction action or a termination of tenancy in a state or local court in which the following procedural safeguards are required: Adequate notice to the resident of the grounds for terminating the tenancy and for eviction:

Right of the resident to be represented by counsel; Opportunity for the resident to refute the evidence presented by the Housing Commission including the right to confront and cross examine witnesses and to present any affirmative legal or equitable defense which the resident may have;
A decision on the merits.

Hearing Officer: an impartial person selected by the Housing Commission to hear grievances and render a decision with respect thereto.
