Building a Perfect Community Fish Tank: from Disaster to Pure Joy (90 Gallon aquarium Tour)

Today we're looking at my largest and favorite tank—a 90-gallon that I built myself, and home to a vibrant community of rainbowfish and in my opinion the best community tank mates for rainbow fish: panda garra, barbs, loaches, dwarf redtail eels, and more. Starting from scratch in 2019 with zero experience in tank and stand building, this tank has been both a reason I wanted to quit the hobby and a reason I'm still in the hobby. Hear an honest reflection on my journey as a fishkeeper and aquatic plant grower, and finding balance between the two -- particularly, how this experience shaped my approach to the hobby and the importance of responsibility towards the aquatic life in our care.

Featured Species: Melanotaenia boesemani, Melanotaenia picta, Melanotaenia papuae, and Melanotaenia sp. "Kali Tawa", Black Ruby Barbs (Pethia nigrofasciata), Reticulated Siamese Algae Eaters (Crossocheilus reticulatus), False Julii Corys (Corydoras trilineatus), dwarf redtail eels (Macrognathus sp.) and more.
Plants: Java Fern, Bacopa, Bolbitis, Hygrophila, Cryptocoryne, Bucephalandra, and others thriving under the new lighting system. These are the best low maintenance plants for a community tank.
