DUCATI Project 671, 400 cc, show at Salon Moto Légende 2023, Paris

One-off prototype built by Rémy Monpezat in 2008.

The single-cylinder engine on this machine is the Ducati 671 project developed by Gianluigi Mengoli, Piero Cavazzi and Franco Farne between April and December 1976.
This innovative engine was, quite simply, a study of the future Pantah engine and the father of all belt-driven Ducati engines.

Displacement 406 cc
Bore 86 mm Stroke 70 mm
Desmodromic cylinder head driven by toothed belt in oil.
Inlet valve 40 mm Exhaust valve 38 mm
Timing diagram: 60/90/97/70 ( AOA/RFA/AOE/RFE )
9:1 high-compression Mahle piston
860 GT polished connecting rod
PHF 36 Dell'Orto carburettor
6-speed gearbox
Swingarm axle through engine cases
Silent stainless steel exhaust

Laboratory engine allowing a timing chain to be fitted (boss behind the timing cover)
Compression ratio can be varied (wedge under the timing cover), and a kick system can be fitted (boss on the clutch cover).

Cycle part :
Modified single-cylinder frame, rectangular-section swingarm
Cériani grand prix replica fork, 4-cam drum brake, remanufactured magnesium flanges.
Original rear brake, vintage Koni rear shock absorbers.
Front fender damaged, a spare fender is supplied.
