Harnessing millions of years of evolution to construct DNA stability treatments for longevity and cancer
Abstract: Aging and cancer are both driven by the gradual accumulation of DNA damage, yet nature has already evolved remarkable solutions. Greenland sharks live over 500 years, bowhead whales surpass 200, and human supercentenarians carry protective gene variants that keep their genomes intact for longer. At the same time, bacteria have spent millions of years perfecting ways to infiltrate and manipulate cells, strategies we can now re-engineer for human benefit. By learning from these long-lived species and harnessing synthetically engineered microbes, we are beginning to imagine therapies that could not only cure cancer but also extend healthy human lifespan.

Bio: Christopher Bradley is an entrepreneur and scientist focused on advancing human health and longevity. He is the CEO and Co-Founder of Matter Bio, a biotechnology company developing DNA-preserving gene therapy and synthetic bacterial immune-oncology to extend healthy lifespan by combating DNA damage and cancer. Previously, he co-founded and served as CEO of Mana Health, a health data interoperability company that was later acquired by Comcast, where he went on to lead healthcare product and data initiatives as Executive Director. He has a background in neuroscience, cell biology, and computer science.
