On April 15, 1912, the Titanic was on its maiden voyage from the UK to New York when it struck an iceberg and sank to the bottom of the Atlantic. A detailed map of the wreckage created by combining by 130,000 images captured by unmanned submarines during an expedition in 2010 suggests that while the bow glided nose-first to the bottom of the ocean, the stern picked up speed as it corkscrewed to the bottom of the ocean. Details on the findings appear in the April 2012 edition of National Geographic and a History Channel documentary that will air on April 15.
