Solving the “Last Mile Problem” and the integration of integrated platforms at Beam Therapeutics using Formulatrix Rovers and F.A.S.T.

Bob Gantzer, Director of Automation at Beam Therapeutics, will discuss how his team has partnered with Formulatrix to deploy their next generation of liquid handlers to solve what he refers to as “The Last Mile Problem of Lab Automation”. The “Last Mile Problem” often refers to a business principle of logistics where the last mile of any service or delivery is the most expensive and complex. A similar concept has plagued lab automation and the deployment of liquid handlers. Any scientist/automation engineer who has translated an SOP to a liquid handler knows that a disproportionate, and frustrating, amount of time is spent on liquid class development. In this talk, Bob will demonstrate how the F.A.S.T. has alleviated this burden at Beam Therapeutics.

Additionally, Bob will present how Beam has deployed the Formulatrix Rover technology to connect islands of integrated automation in a way that is cost-effective, flexible, and efficient.
