This lesson explains how our earth is ill and weak. There are imbalances on the earth.
A natural ecosystem is a balance system. When new species enters or leaves the ecosystem, the ecosystem becomes imbalanced. This is called ecological imbalance.

Introduction of a new species
When a new species enter into an ecosystem, it imbalances the ecosystem e.g. rabbits when enter into an ecosystem increase their number and eat the grass and plants cause an imbalance.
In Islamabad paper mulberry plants were introduced in 60s. These plants grew and spread rapidly imbalanced the ecosystem. Now Islamabad is the allergy capital of the world due to pollen produced by the paper mulberry.
Overhunting of a species causes imbalance in the ecosystem. It results in shortage of one species and the abundance of the other. The animals should not be killed for economic or enjoyment purposes to keep the ecosystem in balance.
Due to over use and wastage of water, shortage of freshwater occurs in an ecosystem. Food may not fulfil the needs of the species of that ecosystem. The species die or leave the ecosystem causing the imbalance in the ecosystem. In Pakistan Thar Desert is an example of ecosystem imbalance.
A species moves from one ecosystem to another in search of food, water, shelter. This movement is called migration.
