Andhra Pradesh will witness simultaneous Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, with the ruling YSRCP battling it out with the newly formed alliance of TDP, BJP and JSP. One of the most keenly watched contests in the state is in Pithapuram where ‘power star’ and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan is contesting from. In Rajahmundry, former chief minister NT Rama Rao’s daughter Daggubati Purandeswari is the BJP’s candidate. In Vijayawada, the Nani brothers are pitted against each other on rival tickets. While it’s anyone’s guess what the result will be, what’s clear is that across Andhra Pradesh, there is a clear divide between urban and rural voters.
