A Coach for Cinderella (1936) is a beautifully crafted Technicolor animated short produced by the Jam Handy Organization for Chevrolet, now restored and upscaled to 4K. Blending fairy-tale fantasy with industrial innovation, this pioneering film reimagines the Cinderella story through the lens of 1930s technology and advertising — showing how Chevrolet cars were built and how they symbolized progress, creativity, and modern design.

As one of the first industrial films ever made in Technicolor, A Coach for Cinderella combines lush animation, whimsical storytelling, and early visual effects that rival Hollywood productions of its time. In this imaginative retelling, nature itself helps create Cinderella’s “dream coach” — caterpillars form into tires, fireflies become spark plugs, and mice provide the car’s power.

Supervised by animator Frank Goldman, this short was part of Jam Handy’s Direct Mass Selling series and helped define the future of corporate animation and product storytelling. It also inspired later classics, including Walt Disney’s Cinderella (1950).
