5.50 is the fastest possible time (I literally hit the boss on the firet possible frame 8 times in a row), and only Sonic, Amy, AndKnuckles can do it - Cream and Tails can't because they lack air dashing and the ability to instastop.

Only one other person has allegedly gotten this quick kill at the time of this upload, but they removed/hid their video - but I promise you I won't hide my strats like that! Below are instructions on how to execute this (painful and random) strat!

1. Glide as close to the ground as possible ASAP, and into the ground
2. The moment Knuckles glides INTO the ground, immediately let go then spindash once. Fyi releasing the spindash the frame after the rev makes you hug the left wall, so ideally you release the spindash exactly 2 frames after the rev - though Knuckles has some leniency.
3. Immediately after releasing the spindash, do a short hop. It seems to be best to do medium height jumps? Also, the jump input itself cannot be the frame after releasing the rev, or else you hug the left wall again! Yay for bad physics!
4. Around the rightmost ring of the row of rings, do a full jump and hold right. Pray you got a good trajectory and are fast enough.
5. Land hit 1, then do an attack input and pray that you got a perfect random frame for Knuckles to insta-stop in the right tip of the top platform. This is again basically random and frame perfect - sometimes it's flat out impossible. On the wrong frames, you'll just take damage or get yeeted to the right.
6. Spindash.
