Most people know the Pullman name from luxury sleeping cars and the famous Pullman Strike, but their private lives were just as dramatic… and so were their homes. In this episode of This House, we’re touring the mansions the Pullmans built at the height of the Gilded Age: a jaw‑dropping Prairie Avenue palace in Chicago, a massive summer place on the New Jersey coast, a storybook stone “castle” on a private island in the Thousand Islands, and a huge Washington, D.C. mansion that ended up with an unexpected second life in diplomacy.
