"How to Plant Recycle Semi - Hydroponic System"


Explanation :
Hydroponic System is a method of growing plants in water based, nutrient-rich solution and using aerator filter for the circulation. Hydroponics used does not use soil, instead of using an inert medium such as perlite, rockwool, clay pellets, peat moss or vermiculite.

Semi – Hydroponic System is a method is a growing plant method using half of the hydroponics system. So we can use soil as the medium and water aren’t using that much as a hydroponic system does. If hydroponic using for the living of the plant because all of the nutrition comes from water, then semi-hydroponic only using water from separate reservoir nearby by the capillary action to the plant root zones. So the plant keeps watering itself as much as it needs.

Here some of the Materials we need for making Semi – Hydroponics System :

· 2 piece of the big bottle with the same shape and size
· Cutter
· Bandages from fabric
· A Fertilizer (Organic is better) 250 grams
· Topsoil 750 grams
· Water 1 litter
· 5 Small Plants/ 1 Medium Plant


Here some steps for making Semi – Hydroponic System :

1. First, cut the first bottle into two with the same size. Cut it vertically from the top of bottle until the bottom bottle surface.
2. Second, cut the second bottle 1/3 part of bottle vertically from the top of bottle until the bottom bottle surface.
3. Third, make holes at the bottom surface of bottle as many as the plants. Here we use 5 small plants. So we will make 5 holes with 3 cm range from one hole to another hole.
4. Then, Mix the topsoil with fertilizer. The composition for this mixed soil is 3 : 1, 3 for the topsoil and 1 for the fertilizer. Here we use 750 grams of topsoil and 250 grams of fertilizer.
5. Next, cut the bandages into two part and roll it. Make it as many as the plants that will be planted. The length of the roll bandage should be 10 cm.
6. Next, put the bandages in the middle of the hole on the first bottle. So, the longer side of bandage should be on the outside of the bottle.
7. After that, put mixed soil into the first bottle Until it fills ¼ first bottle. Then pour water on the mixed soil surface about 100 ml.
8. Then, Follow the pattern of above sentence. And then, pour water on the top of new layer mixed soil 100 ml.
9. Then, stand the plants on the mixed soil inside of the first bottle. The plants have to be stood in the same path of the bandage vertically.
10. Next, put mixed soil around of the plants until fill 3/4 surface of the first bottle. And pour water 100 ml on the top of the plants and mixed soil surface.
11. Then, pour water in the second bottle until fill 3/4 of the bottle surface.
12. Last, put the first bottle on the top of the second bottle with the bandage inside of the second bottle. And make sure the bandages wet by the water.
13. Put these plants everywhere that can get the sunlight properly.
14. Make sure to change the water in the second bottle once a week.
15. When the plants get bigger you should move to plant them into a bigger pot.
16. The last keep observing on this plant.
17. Make sure to change the mixes soil once in two weeks.
